1, Degumming is the first step of refining, degumming process only contains the hydration of the crude oil, some impurities such as: phospholipids, glia and proteins are dissolved in the oil when there is no water, once hydrated cannot dissolve in the oil, this is the principle of hydration degumming, however, there are still some glia in the oil after hydration, which needs to be acidified to remove. In general, oil extraction plants use more degumming than refineries, and only a small oil foot accumulates in the intermediate tank. The water phase after degumming can be reused in the evaporation of the meal, while the phospholipids have excellent commercial value and can be dried separately;
2, Alkali neutralization This operation uses caustic soda to neutralize free fatty acids in oil and saponify them. After saponification, the free acid is no longer soluble in water and can therefore be precipitated or centrifuged. After the free acid is removed, the neutralization cannot be completed because the phospholipids must be removed unless hydrated at this stage. In addition, it also reduces the number of minor components such as metal ions and pigments. The decolorization process removes pigments such as carotene and chlorophyll with suitable adsorption materials;
3, Decolorization has become a more important process, which is the last step to remove residual phospholipids, metal ions and oxides before deodorization. In addition, the removal of other impurities is also important, as it can directly affect the sensory flavor and oxidation characteristics of the deodorized oil;
4, Deodorization In most cases, deodorization is the last step in refining, its main purpose is to remove substances that affect the smell and taste of the oil, and in physical refining, can also remove free acids. Although the type of technology is different, the purpose is always the same: to ensure sufficient contact between oil and water vapor to achieve the desired effect. The process can be continuous, semi-continuous or intermittent, depending on the application choice, the type of oil and the scale of production, each application has its own best advantages. Generally speaking, the three steps of deodorization are as follows:
(1) Gas extraction heating: Before the decolorized oil is heated by heat exchange with the deodorized oil, the air in the oil must first be drained.
(2) Deodorization: at a pressure of about 3 mbar, steam is sprayed through a series of pumps, and the oil is in full contact with the steam under the stirring of the steam, and the steam is evenly dispersed in the oil.
